Talks and Training : The Royal Observer Corps

For an organization with such a long history, little if anything is known about the Royal Observer Corps by the general public.

Formed in 1925 and apart from a short break after the Second World War, the Corps served this country until final stand-down in 1991.

Trevor Burlingham served in the Corps for 13 years, rising to the rank of Group Officer. This illustrated talk covers the history of the Royal Observer Corps from its important role of aircraft reporting through the Second World War to its work during the Cold War and the nuclear age.
